How did you get started playing music?
It happened very naturally.. I began writing in the basement with my brother Brendan and we couldn’t stop.

Besides singing and guitar, do you play any other musical instruments?
I fiddle around on the piano a bit, I want to be playing piano on stage sometime. I saw Annie Lennox play to “No More I Love Yous” and from then on I knew I had to accompany myself to “Golden” someday.

Thestar.com published yesterday a very good article on Alexz Johnson. They got to interview her while she was shopping at a records shop.

Okay, what about the “z” in her first name?

“It was my hippie mom,” she explains. “She called me Alexzandra. She sent the birth certificate back three times before they got it right. I was a tomboy with short blond hair and on stage, they thought I was a boy. I had operatic training for 9 years, from age 8. I have a four-octave range.

Alexz was in Toronto, on CTV, for the show Canada AM. We all hope, we can get the video very quickly. Meanwhile, this is 2 photos taken during a repetitions.
